A review and demo of the Fender James Burton Telecaster. The James Burton Telecaster is a Signature/Artist Series guitar made by Fender.
Since its introduction it has been through a couple of updates and has been available in several different finishes. As of 2015 the guitar is available in two models, Upgrade and Standard. Both were designed by American country-rock guitarist James Burton along with Dan Smith at Fender. Both models are patterned after mid-century Fender Telecaster guitars played by Burton during his long career with Ricky Nelson, Elvis Presley, Merle Haggard, Emmylou Harris, John Denver and many other well-known artists. The original Upgrade was introduced in 1991 and had a poplar body, three Lace Sensor pickups (Blue at the neck, Silver in the middle and Red at the bridge) and a treble/bass expander (TBX) tone control. Initially the model was available in Black with Gold Paisley, Black with Candy Red Paisley, Pearl White and Frost Red. Since then the Black with Gold Paisley, Frost Red and White pearl versions have been retired and currently the model is available in Black with Red Paisley flames and Black with Blue Paisley flames. The James Burton Standard Telecaster is available in candy apple red. Only 250 Telecaster were released to the market in 2012, 125 being in the US with 75 heading for Europe and only 16 landing in the UK. The first 50 were signed by Jeff Allen, who at the time was the Production Manager at Fender Corona California. Factory. Jeff has since left Fender and he now heads up the Custom Shop at Martin Guitar. These were the last of the American Standard Telecaster’s to be built without the new 2012 revamped contoured body. The American Standards have since been replaced by the American Professional Series. This truly is a limited, limited edition guitar. A review and demo of Fender’s 2014 Limited Edition Reclaimed Eastern Pine Telecaster. Introduced in May 2014 January 2010 and Made in America.
Fender’s Special Edition Reclaimed Eastern Pine Telecaster has a distinctively rustic look and elegant charm, with a body fashioned from reclaimed pine originally used in 1868 in the construction of a dairy barn in the small rural community of Lake Odessa, Michigan, USA. The knots, gashes, dings and other anomalies in the wood are left intact and unconcealed, so that no two guitars in this limited-number issue are identical. Further emphasizing the guitar’s one-of-a-kind appearance are a dark satin lacquer stain that accentuates the beauty of the body wood, hardware specially treated to appear slightly worn, and a rosewood neck with a hand-rubbed oil finish and comfortable “modern C”-shaped profile. Other features include 9.5”-radius rosewood fingerboard, 22 medium jumbo frets, Texas Special™ single-coil (neck) and Fender Custom Shop single-coil Broadcaster (bridge) pickups, special four-way switching (including both pickups in series), Master volume and “no-load” master tone controls, “unbuffed” single-ply black pickguard, American Standard string-through-body bridge with six bent-steel saddles and “Fender”-stamped chromed brass plate, Micro-Tilt™ neck adjustment, Laser-etched headstock logo, Hard-shell case, Strap, Cable, Polishing cloth. A very Limited Edition Telecaster. Fender UK have informed me that only 70 were made worldwide with 30 crossing the pond to Europe with no more than 7 Telecasters coming into the UK. No two guitars are the same. A review & demo of a 2008 Fender Lite Ash Telecaster.
The Fender Lite Ash Telecaster 6-String Electric Guitar, features an ash body, birdseye maple fingerboard, black pickguard with Seymour Duncan Alnico Pro 2 pickups.. The Fender Lite Ash Telecaster guitar is so simple, yet incredibly versatile! Since the introduction of the original Tele in the early ’50s, guitarists in all musical genres have relied on the Fender Telecaster guitar for its powerful tone and smooth playability. One of the longest-running production models in Fender’s history, the Telecaster guitar has been modified only slightly in its more than 50 legendary years, with its great strength inherent in its classic simplicity. The Lite Ash Telecaster guitar was something new from Fender, when it was produced in 2004 through 2008. Ash is a desirable body wood because of its tonal qualities, and with its birdseye maple neck and Seymour Duncan pickups, it gives Tele players just what they need to get the job done. A review & demo of a 2006 Highway One Telecaster from Fender.
The Highway One Telecaster features an alder body, modern C-shaped maple neck with a maple fingerboard and 22 jumbo frets, two hot single-coil Telecaster pickups with alnico 3 magnets, Greasebucket™ tone circuit and satin nitrocellulose lacquer finish. Super-size frets, '70s styling, new Alnico pickups and new colours take this amazing guitar to the next level. The new pickups on the Highway One Telecaster guitar produce a more round sound with that great Fender sparkle; it also has great high-gain sounds. The thin nitrocellulose lacquer finish lets the body wood's natural tone shine through, making for one of the most exciting new instruments in the Fender family. The updated Highway One's were introduced in 2006 and were discontinued in 2010. The Daphne Blue finish was only available in late 2006 and 2007 with either a rosewood or maple fingerboard.
