Three years younger than its sibling, the telecaster. the guitar that changes the face of Rock 'N' Roll, the Stratocaster celebrates its 60th birthday. A series of commemorative Strats were released and feature what is great about this iconic guitar. 60 years young and still going strong.
Following the passing of Leo Fender, the Fendercompany comissioned 30 guiatrs to be built to the 1950 Fender Broadcaster specifications as a tribute to the company founder. The usual Fender logo was replaced by Leo's signature. the guitars included a certificate signed by compnay suprmo Bill Schultz and Leo's widow Phyllis.
The fabled Rosewood telecaster. Given to George Harrison in the late 1960's by Fender. It was hand delivered after being accompanied across the Atlantic. Designed by Phil Kubicki. George plaued it during The Beatles final live appearance, the Rooftop Concert in 1970. Recently re-acquired by his estate the guitar was given by George to Delaney Bramlett as a gift. Actor Ed Bbegley Jr was the estates's representative at the auction.
