A review & demo of a 2006 Highway One Telecaster from Fender.
The Highway One Telecaster features an alder body, modern C-shaped maple neck with a maple fingerboard and 22 jumbo frets, two hot single-coil Telecaster pickups with alnico 3 magnets, Greasebucket™ tone circuit and satin nitrocellulose lacquer finish. Super-size frets, '70s styling, new Alnico pickups and new colours take this amazing guitar to the next level. The new pickups on the Highway One Telecaster guitar produce a more round sound with that great Fender sparkle; it also has great high-gain sounds. The thin nitrocellulose lacquer finish lets the body wood's natural tone shine through, making for one of the most exciting new instruments in the Fender family. The updated Highway One's were introduced in 2006 and were discontinued in 2010. The Daphne Blue finish was only available in late 2006 and 2007 with either a rosewood or maple fingerboard. A review & demo of a limited edition FSR Standard Telecaster made by Fender from 2002.
Professional guitarists in all musical genres have relied on the Fender® Telecaster® guitar since its early 1950s introduction for its powerful tone and smooth playability. The Standard Telecaster combines the best of old and new, with hotter single-coil pickups, shielded body cavities, medium jumbo frets, six-saddle strings-through-body bridge, cast/sealed tuners, tinted neck, parchment pickguard and control knobs, and ’70s-style headstock logo. Standard gig bag included. Finished in Gun Metal Blue which according to Fender was a FSR colour in 2002. It was for Europe only and limited to 100 guitars. Featuring a satin black body finish, matching headstock with Pau Ferro fingerboards on a maple neck with a red Fender logo and red inner layer on the pickguard. Initially the guitars were to feature a rosewood fingerboard but due to the recent changes in the CITIES regulations concerning Rosewood, the fingerboards were changed to Pau Ferro. No word on the total number of guitars to be made the run is due to take place during the whole of 2017. 5 quick differences between the Fender American Special Series Stratocaster and the new Fender American Performer Series Stratocaster. The Fender American Special Series has been part of the Fender Catalogue for the past eight years. It was introduced as a direct replacement for the Highway One series of guitars. ‘Hand Crafted’ at Fender USA plant in Carona, California the series remains the most affordable USA made guitars. The next year the American Standard Series got a make over and became the American Professional Series. More recently the American Vintage Series took on the new moniker of the American Originals Series. Earlier in 2018 the humble Mexican made Standard Series got its make over and the Player Series was born. So as we close out 2018 the American Special’s are no more and the American Performers take to the stage.
