In 2017 the Fender Custom Shop celebrated its 30th Anniversary and it was also the year that I got my first Custom Shop guitar. This pre-owned beauty, a 2016 Fencer Custom Shop Artisan Stratocaster was hanging in Sound Affects Premier in Ormskirk when I went for a look around to see what stock they had. It caught my eye immediately and it took some consideration and trading in of a couple of guitars to be able to take it home with me. The case and case candy was also intact including the Fender Custom Shop tool kit that shortly after Fender stopped supplying with the guitars. In 2017 along with not supplying the took kit the fingerboard of the guitar was replaced with a rosewood one which for me just dilutes the look of the guitars as the roasted AAA maple fingerboard complimented the Claro Walnut top beautifully.
