The Fender Sandblasted telecaster was one of Fender's highlights of the 2015 NAMM show. Released with Stratocasters, P Bass and Jazz Bass the guitars were offered in a choice of two finishes; sapphire blue transparent or crimson red transparent.
The Telecaster run was limited to 19 pieces coming into the UK in both finishes and 250 pieces world wide in each finish. The Stratocasters were limited to 450 pieces world wide in each finish and the P Bass was limited to 150 pieces in each finish as was the Jazz Bass. In the video below Fender rep Alan Abassi goes through the four guitars in the series and describes the process. Fender take an Ash body and stain it with a dark wood grain. They then take a sand blasting gun and sandblast the body which cuts away at the wood and leaves the grain exposed. They then finish the guitars in the top colour adding a satin finish. |
