The Player HH Telecaster gets its heritage from the Blacktop series that was introduced by Fender in 2010.

All models featured at least one humbucking Alnico Hot Vintage pickup. The Blacktop Strat is available in HH and HSS configurations. In 2016 the Blacktop series was merged into the Mexican made Standard Series. In 2018 The Standard Series became the Player Series.
