New for 2012, the return of the famed and rare Antgua finish. Only the third time this finish has been issued on a Telecaster and only the fourth time in Fender history. This years models are made in Mexico as opposed to the previous incarnations that were built in the USA in 1977 and then Japan in 2002.
The Antigua Telecaster guitar features an alder body with a polyester finish, a “U” shape maple neck with 21 vintage style frets, Vintage style pickups in both the bridge and neck positions, a three way switch and a classic 3 saddle bridge for greater sustain and the classic Tele Twang! This version once again with the matching Antigua colour schemed pickguard is a limited FSR Edition with a limited number being released in the UK. Reports suggest only 300 Telecasters were being built with 180 Telecasters were being released in the USA with another 120 worldwide, only 4 were coming to the North of England. Of the other models only 500 (380 USA) Stratocasters, 300 Precision Bass and 250 Jazz Bass models were being released worldwide. Mine is on order and should be here real soon. I have added a Fender 'F' logo neck plate to enhance that 70's vibe. To find out more about the Antigua finish have a look at the story below. Fender Japan produced a limited run of guitars in 2019.
