Introduced in January 2010 and Made in America. The American Special range replaced the Highway One Series of guitars.
The American Special Telecaster sports an Alder body finished with gloss urethane. It is fitted with a 9.5” radius maple neck, jumbo frets, two formidable Texas Special single coil pickups and Greasebucket Tone Circuit..
The pickups deliver loads of midrange punch whilst still offering spanky treble and tight bass thanks to the over wound Alnico V magnets.
The 70’s style headstock logo is a neat addition and helps make this guitar stand out visually. The Greasebucket tone circuit rolls off highs without adding bass to the signal.
My guitar was finished in vintage blonde which was announced as a new finish to accompany the olympic white and sunburst finishes available since the series was first introduced.
The American Special series was replaced in the Fender line up by the American Performer series in 2018.
